Linear track WD carries the robot along the workpiece instead of turning the part. The robot rides on the carriage, so one arm can weld a seam longer than its own envelope, or serve several stations placed along the rail.
The track uses a rigid enclosed structure, precision linear guides, a servo drive and a rack-and-pinion transmission. The design protects mechanical components from dust, metal spatter and industrial contamination while maintaining stable positioning accuracy.
Size the track by the length of the longest part plus the robot's own footprint at each end, and by the load the carriage carries — the robot, its cabling and the dress pack. The rail sets the length of the whole cell, so plan the floor space before choosing the arm.
