Handling Robots

23 arms for handling, machine tending and assembly, 7 to 360 kg payload and 712 to 3444 mm reach — the widest range we carry. Six axes reach a part from any angle, which is what separates them from four-axis palletizing and SCARA robots. The RA21-70(T5) is the exception: five axes, 70 kg, 2130 mm, listed by the factory for handling, assembly and grinding — without the sixth axis the tool cannot rotate about its own axis.

Not sure which model fits?

Send the part weight, the reach you need and the cycle. We will name the model — and say plainly if a robot is not the right answer for it.

Material handling robots, also known as manipulator robots or robotic arms, move parts between machines, conveyors, presses and pallets. The RA series spans 23 models from 7 to 360 kg payload with reach from 712 to 3444 mm — the widest range in the CRP catalogue.

Six-axis kinematics allows the tool to approach from any angle, which handling frequently requires: reaching into a machine, tilting a part to clear a fixture, placing at an angle. Where the approach is always vertical and the part flat, a SCARA or a four-axis palletizer does the job; for stacking, a four-axis palletizing robot is faster than a six-axis arm.

Applications run from small-part transfer to press-to-press transfer and foundry work. The heaviest models are the RA26-220, RA32-280 and RA28-360, with 220, 280 and 360 kg payload.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the payload and reach range?
The RA series spans 23 models from 7 to 360 kg payload with reach from 712 to 3444 mm — the widest range in the CRP catalogue.
The heaviest are the RA26-220, RA32-280 and RA28-360, with 220, 280 and 360 kg payload.
When do I need six axes for handling?
Whenever the approach is not always vertical: reaching into a machine, tilting a part to clear a fixture, placing at an angle.
Where the approach is always vertical and the part flat, a SCARA or a four-axis palletizer does the job; for stacking, a four-axis palletizing robot is faster than a six-axis arm.
Can one robot serve two machines?
It depends on the machining time of each machine, the loading and unloading cycle and the cell layout: the robot must reach every load point, and its free time between cycles has to cover the second machine. Send us the cycle times, the weights of the part and the gripper and the floor plan, and we will say whether one robot is enough. The first two digits of the model code give the reach in decimetres; payload must include the gripper and the heaviest raw blank, not the finished part.
What about foundry and press-shop conditions?
Tell us the environment when you enquire: heat, dust, coolant and splash all affect which protection class you need, so specify it before ordering rather than after.
Where the factory states a protection class, it is listed in the specification table on the model page; for some models it is not specified.
What warranty and support do you provide?
Two years warranty on the robot, worldwide, export included.
Technical support is online: our engineers consult on setup, programming questions and fault-finding by video call. Spare parts are shipped directly from the factory.
CRP production is certified to ISO 9001, and the factory reports its products are certified to an MTBF above 100,000 hours.
